Appeal for witnesses after 46-year-old cyclist dies in Lichfield crash

Witnesses are being sought after a 46-year-old Lichfield cyclist died in a crash.

He was travelling along the A5127 Birmingham Road between Lichfield and Wall at 8.45pm on Saturday (October 17) when he was hit by a white Ford Transit van.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Sadly, despite the best efforts of paramedics the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man, who is from Lichfield, has not yet been formally identified. His family are aware of his death and are being offered support from specially trained officers.”

The road was closed for around four hours while investigations were carried out.

Anyone who saw the crash is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident number 770 of October 17.
