Man jailed after death of woman in Kings Bromley crash

A man has been jailed for causing the death of a woman in a crash near Kings Bromley.

Forty-three-year-old Margaret Tyrell died after her Peugeot 107 was hit by Adam Smart when he lost control of his Kia Sorrento while overtaking on the A512 Alrewas Road in January.

The 32-year-old, from Lea Hall Lane in Rugeley, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and was jailed for 30 months and disqualified from driving for four years.

PC Matt Lovatt, of Staffordshire Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a tragic incident for everyone involved and although it was early morning, a number of motorists stopped to provide assistance. Sadly, Miss Tyrell died at the scene.

“It is hoped that today’s sentencing will enable her family to have some closure on this tragedy.”
