Assistant boss Cameron Stuart hails Chasetown FC’s signing of “impressive” George Washbourne

Assistant manager Cameron Stuart believes Chasetown FC have pulled off a major coup by sealing the signature of “impressive” midfielder George Washbourne.

The left-sided player will be a familiar face to the Scholars squad, having already been on the opposing side three times this season.

Washbourne came through Nuneaton Town’s youth setup. He has also had spells with Atherstone Town, Forest Green Rovers, Worcester City before signing for Evesham from Stourbridge in August 2014.

Stuart said: “He’s been very impressive against us each time.

“We’ve tracked George for a number of weeks now and I remember him from his time at Stourbridge. He also likes the style of play we want to try and adopt here.

“He’s going to be another good addition to the squad.”

Stuart also confirmed talks are progressing with another player and the club hope to get a deal done before the end of next week.

“It’s possible there could be another signing in before next Saturday,” he said. “But I can’t give any names or positions just yet.”
