An artist says he has been delighted by the response to an appeal for pictures to form part of a light and sound display to honour Burntwood’s war heroes.

Photographs of relatives have been submitted by locals ahead of the event at St Anne’s Church on November 11.

The 20 minute displays will take place between 6pm and 8pm and feature the images of more than 200 people who brought pictures along to the submission days.

Artist Peter Walker said: “We are delighted to be able to bring further artwork to the town as part of our long term projects in the area, especially using a contemporary art form in terms of light projection which will create an artwork both local and poignant and which should appeal to all generations.”

The event will also give people a chance to see the Burntwood Wakes Festival archive film and the History of Burntwood Mining film alongside historic images of St Anne’s.
