As well as not having their defensive rearguard breached, the hosts had also failed to lose so far this season.

True to form, it was Trooper who had the better of the opening exchanges and they took the lead when Michael Crawford netted.

But Whittington showed their steel and levelled when Brett Larkins played in Neil Russell, who crossed for Matt Taylor to finish at the far post.

Things got even vetter for the visitors when another Russell delivery unsettled the Trooper defence and Taylor was hauled down in the box. Nick Colley stepped up to but his side in front from the spot.

It looked as though Whittington would inflict their hosts’ first defeat of the season but Trooper levelled with ten minutes left when Shaun Bedward fired into the top corner from close range.

Elsewhere, Whittington Vets A went down 4-0 to BAI Phoenix to end their recent good run of results.
