Leader unveils plans to create a more “corporate” Lichfield District Council

The leader of Lichfield District Council has unveiled plans to create a more “corporate” local authority.

The proposals form part of the Fit for the Future review which is aiming to find savings across the local authority.

A report to an overview and scrutiny committee meeting this evening (November 17) reveals how the council is hoping to change some of its structures.

Cllr Mike Wilcox, leader of Lichfield District Council, said: “The Creating a Corporate Council project comprises various initiatives that support the organisation development needed to create a council which operates in a more consistent manner.

“[It is also] informed by transparent policy, clear organisational values and good governance, and has management and leadership capacity that is structured effectively to support the future aspirations of the council.”

The Creating a Corporate Council drive will focus on areas such as developing the role of overview and scrutiny and reviewing current management structures.

“The project is also helping the council to respond to some of the areas for improvement identified by the Local Government Association’s Corporate Peer Challenge,” Cllr Wilcox added.

So to condense the points in their own words they want to do the following:

Create a corporate council which will operate in a more consistent manner with transparent policy, clear organisational values, good governance, and has management and leadership capacity that is structured effectively and is overviewed and scrutinised and to support the future aspirations of the council.

So in effect, the councillor is saying that it didn’t do that previously, even though we have had local cuts and “austerity” foisted upon us by them.

    Who voted for these people?
