Lottery winner reveals how ticket mix-up in Lichfield scooped him £1million

A lottery winner has scooped £1million after a mix-up while buying his lucky ticket in Lichfield.

Lorry driver Stuart Powell, from Featherstone, won the Euromillions UK Millionaire Maker on November 24 – almost four years to the day he won £55,000 on Lotto.

But he only landed the big prize after a mix-up buying his tickets.

“I buy a ticket every week but missed the draw on November 20, which was the big rollover draw,” he said. “The previous week I thought I had bought a Lucky Dip for November 20 but the lady in the shop got her dates mixed up and I’m so glad she did.”

The 50-year-old admitted he and his wife, Denise, were surprised to see their numbers come up again.

“I won £55,464 in November 2011 and gave all of it away to my children and wife and I intend to do exactly the same with this million,” he said.

“I’m going to buy the kids a house each, my elderly father a car, Denise wants a Range Rover Evoque and me, well I’m not bothered as long as they are happy.”
