Warning after bogus workman targets elderly Lichfield resident

A bogus workman has targeted an elderly resident in Lichfield.

Police say the man was visited by someone saying his roof tiles needed replacing.

The man was paid to carry out the work but returned again a few days later saying more work needed to be done and was paid again.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “Residents are asked to remain vigilant at all times and to never trust anyone calling at the door without a prior appointment.

“Do not allow anyone to carry work out on your home, or sell you anything when they cold call at the door. If you do require work to be done instigate it yourself by phoning three companies asking for like for quotes.

“Always report any suspicious behaviour to the police. If you think it is suspicious, it probably is.”
