Tony Clarke double helps Lichfield City FC secure three points at Cadbury Athletic

Lichfield City FC remain in the promotion hunt after a 3-1 win at Cadbury Athletic.

The three points mean Gary Birch’s men lie fourth in the table, nine adrift of leaders Bromsgrove Sporting but with two games in hand.

Lichfield were forced to weather an early Cadbury storm in the game but got their noses in front when the prolific Tony Clarke netted after 22 minutes.

Strike partner Yonwin fluffed his lines as he spurned a one-on-one before Clarke doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time.

Tom Evans made it 3-0 after 59 minutes before Cadbury netted a consolation.

City turn their attention to the JW Hunt Cup next when they travel to AFC Wulfrunians on Tuesday (January 26).
