Among the featured events are The Year of Lunarcy, which celebrates the 250th anniversary of the Lunar Society, and a concert by Sir Tom Jones in Beacon Park in June.

Councillor Helen Fisher, Cabinet member for leisure at Lichfield District Council, said: “This is such an exciting year.

“Both publications show just how many fabulous attractions and events are on offer in the district.”

More than 60,000 copies of the Visit Lichfield guide have already been distributed to tourism providers across the country, while copies of What’s On are being sent to local homes and information points around the region.

Jenny Arthur, Chair of the Erasmus Darwin House Foundation, said she hoped The Year of Lunarcy would prove popular.

She explained: “It will be a year of talks, events, competitions, a Son-et-Lumiere and a Georgian Festival, all taking place to mark the 250th anniversary of the Lunar Society – an inspirational gathering of minds that shaped the world we live in today and helped spark the industrial revolution.”

Other highlights across the year include the Lichfield Greenhill Bower, the Lichfield Festival, Cars in the Park and the Lichfield Food Festival.

Both publications are available to pick-up from Tourist Information at St Mary’s on the Market Square and can be viewed online.
