Chasetown Scholars U14s upset the odds by beating Division One table-toppers Colron Boys in the third qualifying round of the Lichfield Shield.

The visitors have already won the Division Two championship but knew the leaders from the league above would be a tough nut to crack.

But a gutsy first half performance sent them into the break 2-0 up.

However, Colron fought back to make it 3-2 inside the first 20 minutes of the second period.

Chasetown manager Nick Dunn made a couple of changes as he looked to get his side back into the game – and they clearly worked as Carter Lycett headed home after Will Reaney’s clever ball.

With the scores level and everything to play for, it was Sam Gardner who struck the killer blow with a fine effort from just outside the box.

Man of the match went to Carter Lycett for an outstanding performance.
