The under 10 side from Lichfield Hockey Club played teams from Stone, Wednesbury, Leek and North Staffs earlier this month and won all their matches without conceding a single goal.

The attacking team put 15 goals in their opponents’ nets with team Captain Seb Fisher scoring seven. The team will now represent Staffordshire in the regional final in Nottingham in April.

Mike Nicklin, Lichfield Boys Under 10 coach, said: “Everyone put their heart and soul into the competition straight from the first whistle.

“What was so encouraging was how they worked as a team, showing great maturity, encouraging each other until the final whistle. Their spirit and togetherness was fantastic and everyone is looking forward to the regional finals.”

The winning team includes goalkeeper Toby Dennis and outfield players Oliver Collins, Jasper Saunders, Andrew Groves, Joe Cowley, James Carter, Seb Fisher, John Nicklin, Tom Kain and Joe O’Hara.
