A wreath in memory of a soldier killed by an IRA gunman at Lichfield City station will be re-instated.
Private Robert Davies died as he waited for a train in 1990.
He had been based at Whittington Barracks and had been with the military for just 12 weeks when he was shot and killed on the platform.
A plaque in his memory is in the stairwell of the station, but a poppy wreath has recently vanished.
However, London Midland has confirmed that its removal is only temporary.
“The wreath is in the station office area while the area is being repainted,” a spokesperson for the train operator said. “It will be back in place soon.”
