Cricket club hoping community in Burntwood pitch in on volunteer day

A Burntwood cricket club is hoping to be bowled over by volunteers this weekend.

Burntwood St Matthews Cricket Club is hoping to give the ground a makeover on Saturday (April 2) from 10am.

Funding from the YouCan Foundation has helped to pay for free food and entertainment in a bid to entice more volunteers.

John Farmer, who applied for the funding, said: “The club is in need of some ground maintenance and repairs to improve the facilities.

“We’re looking for volunteers to come along and help out. To make it more appealing for people I thought it would be a good idea to organise a community event at the club.

“I applied for £200 from YouCan to pay for a bouncy castle and inflatable football game and this money will also allow us to provide free food for everyone who comes along to help out.”
