Paul Sullivan fashioned the first chance for the hosts but put the ball just wide from eight yards.

The striker then had a shot blocked in a one sided first half, before Henry Eze saw his header cleared off the line by Conor Price.

Bottom club Tividale almost stunned the hosts before the half hour. Eze acrobatically bicycle kicked the ball off the line as the visitors looked to break the deadlock from Chris Sterling’s effort.

Demetri Brown was then blocked by the onrushing John Bateman and the keeper followed up with a double save to deny Chris Rabone and Sterling.

The Scholars continued to have the lion’s share of possession and eventually took the lead in the 55th minute. Jed Davies curled in a free kick and Eze rose at the far post to bullet a header home.

The floodgates opened and Nick Turton nipped in between a hesitant goalkeeper and defender to slide the ball into an empty net from a tight angle.

But Tividale pulled one back against the run of play in the 70th minute with substitute Matt Jukes on the scoresheet unmarked from close range.

Sullivan went close to a third Chasetown goal with a near post flick as the Scholars tried to cement the points.
