People in Lichfield and Burntwood are being urged to take up the offer a free health check.

The NHS check-up is for people aged between 40 and 74 who may be at risk of cardiovascular disease.

As well as identifying a risk of type 2 diabetes, stroke or kidney disease, the service also offers support to people looking to prevent conditions developing.

County Councillor Mark Sutton, Cabinet support member for social and health care, said: “If you’re invited for an NHS Health Check it’s really important you attend.

“The risks of cardiovascular diseases can often be reduced dramatically by simple lifestyle changes or the proper medical treatment.

“Regular check-ups can identify potential issues and treat them before they become a problem.”

Although invitations are normally sent out, people can contact their GP to see if they are eligible for the check-up.
