A Burntwood councillor has launched an online campaign to buy a new defibrillator for the town.
Cllr Darren Ennis, Labour representative for Chasetown ward at Burntwood Town Council, is hoping to raise £1,500.
He launched the online campaign after previously helping members of Grangemoor Working Mens’ Club buy a defibrillator.
“At the end of last year, a member of the club passed away when a defibrillator could have saved his life,” Cllr Ennis said.
“Within a week of deciding to buy one, with the support of the committee and the Community First Responders we had one supplied and installed.”
Cllr Ennis said that although Burntwood now has two defibrillators, 20 are needed.
“In short we need more,” he said. “We need them in local community areas, we need them in local pubs and clubs, and we need them to be accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
People can donate by visiting Cllr Ennis’ online funding page.
Well done Darren Keep up the good work and I will certainly chip in to help.
