A group of shanty singers are bringing their own brand of music to Lichfield Mysteries.
The Lichfield Lighthouse Company are providing the music for one of the plays and also leading a sing-along at the Garrick.
Lichfield Mysteries – a free event over the May Day bank holiday – features 24 plays performed by community groups on Market Square and in Wade Street Church.
The Lighthouse Company is singing and performing in the Darwin Players’ production of The Ascension.
Lichfield Mysteries Community Arts has arranged other free events around the city on May 1 and 2.
The Lighthouse Company will lead a sing-along from the community stage at the Garrick from 12noon to 1pm each day. Additional events at the theatre include a photography exhibition by Rugeley Phoenix Photography Group, poetry from The Lichfield Poets and Poetry for the People and performances from Shepherd’s Crook Puppet Theatre.
And acclaimed Storyteller Maria Whatton brings the Medieval world to life through dark and ancient stories for the over 12s at St Mary’s Church and The George IV pub in Bore Street.
