The latest film in the Lichfield Garrick’s true crime series is The Black Panther.

The 1977 thriller will be screened int he Studio theatre on May 4.

A spokesperson said: “The Black Panther is based on the Donal Neilson case, an ex-soldier turned arm robber who kidnaps Lesley Whittle, a teenage heiress, an incident directly leading to her death.

“The horror film was director Ian Merrick’s first feature film and starred Donald Sumpter, Debbie Farrington and Marjorie Yates.

“The screening will be preceded by a short talk by Julian Upton, author of Fallen Stars and editor of Offbeat: British Cinema’s Curiosities, Obscurities and Forgotten Gems.”
