Mark Tweddle, from Kings Bromley, crossed the finish line in the capital in four hours and 41 minutes.

The 38-year-old has so far raised just under £69,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust – and still hopes to smash the £70,000 barrier.

The dad-of-two, who runs fruit import and export business Juniper Marketing, said: “If I could do the marathon again without all the training I would do it in a heartbeat.

“The support, the crowds and the total experience made it all worth it. So many people really challenged themselves to help others. What an amazing nation of people we are.

“It was fantastic to meet Stephen’s mum Jane after the event at the Teenage Cancer Trust after party. To make a difference to young people who ensure such horrific illnesses is worth every step, ache, pain and bead of sweat. It is nothing compared with what they face.”

People can still donate via Mark’s online fundraising page.
