The 55-stride course around Princes Park on Farewell Lane attracted runners in fancy dress, including superheroes and princesses.

There were also families taking part to help raise money for the We Love Lichfield fund.

Pam Stokes, chairman of Burntwood Town Council, set the runners off on the course.

“It was brilliant,” she said. “And what an atmosphere. I loved every minute.”

It’s the second time the fun run has taken place.

Kevin Wilson of organisers KP Events, said:
“I’ve been involved in a lot of events over a lot of years but this has to be up there as a favourite simply because it is all about the taking part.

“The atmosphere it creates is unique. It doesn’t matter if you can run or not, you just have get round the little park however you like and take as long as you like.”
