Lichfield City FC ended their league campaign with a defeat.

A 2-1 loss at Racing Club Warwick leaves Gary Birch’s men sixth in the Midland Football League Division One – but could still be leapfrogged by Pilkington XXX if they win their remaining games

Lichfield got off to a flying start with Martin Crawford finding the net with just two minutes on the clock.

But Racing Club Watwick were level on 20 miutes through Wade Malley.

The home side almost completed a rapid turnaround after striking the woodwork.

Lichfield almost restored their lead in dramatic fashion at the start of the second half as Dave Yonwin went close to lobbing the keeper from distance.

City dominated the second period but were left scratching their heads when Malley netted late on in what was his side’s first shot of the half.

The season will come to a close for Lichfield when they face Rushall Olympic in the Walsall Senior Cup final on May 9.
