Cyclists of all ages are being urged to get on their bikes to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and other charities.
The charity ride on May 22 is being organised by the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad and is open to all
Starting at Market Square at 10am, riders will travel three miles along a fully marshalled route to Curborough, to enjoy one or more laps around the sprint circuit before heading back to the city to receive a certificate and medal.
David Stainsby, President of the Rotary Club of Lichfield St Chad, said: “This is a really unique opportunity to cycle round the Curborough Sprint Circuit, which is a British Cycling approved performance centre with an excellent road surface.
“As this is the first time we’ve run this, we’re limiting the number of entrants to 300 – but we’re hoping this might become an annual charity event.
“It will be an exciting challenge for cyclists of all abilities, with sweeping bends and fast straights, and the opportunity to ride the circuit as many times as they wish before returning to Market Square.”
The ride is sponsored by Tesco, which has donated bottled water for the riders, and Freedom Cycles, whose staff will safety check bikes before the event.
Entry forms are available to collect from Tesco Lichfield, Freedom Cycles and St Mary’s Centre, by contacting Andrew Maw on 07748900171 or by emailing [email protected]. Any remaining places will also be available through on the day registration from 9am.
Entry is £20 for a family of two adults and up to three children, £10 for adults and £5 for children aged 14 to 18. Children under 14 are free. Cycle helmets are mandatory and under 14s must be accompanied by an adult.
