Foster carers get ready to welcome the fostering information bus

People in Lichfield will be able to find out more about fostering as an information bus visits the city tomorrow (May 23).

To mark Foster Care Fortnight, which runs until May 29, Staffordshire County Council’s bus will be in the Market Square to encourage more people to come forward.

Around 400 families currently foster in the county, but the number required is on the rise.

Cllr Mike Lawrence, Cabinet Member responsible for children at Staffordshire County Council, said: “Foster carers play a key role in transforming children’s lives and jumping onboard the fostering bus is a great way of finding out what’s involved and about our unrivalled package of support.

“Fostering isn’t always easy though, but it offers the opportunity to make an amazing difference to children and foster carers tell us it’s a very rewarding experience. People who want to foster need to care about children, have great communication skills and be ready for a challenge.

“We are always looking for new foster families to come forward. I would encourage anyone with the desire to help give a child in their area a home, to come along and have a chat with us.”

More details about fostering are available online or by calling 0800 169 2061.
