Proposal for 70 new homes in Fradley approved

A plan for 70 new homes in Fradley has been approved.

Developers have earmarked the land at Brookfield on Hay End Lane for housing.

A statement supporting the applicaton said: “The layout demonstrates that the proposed development would not detract unacceptablly from the character and appearance of the surrounding area.”

However, there had been criticism from some local residents.

In a letter of objection, one wrote: “The area is a favourite day out for town people who come especially to walk the canal and see the countryside.

“This application will have an impact on their enjoyment and they will no longer be spending money the local shops and restaurants.”

The plans were originally drawn up in 2014. But the developers have now done enough for the outline proposals to be approved by Lichfield District Council planning chiefs.
