Councillor hoping plan to change Harlaston phone box into a library is given the go-ahead

A parish councillor in Harlaston says she hopes the village will get permission for an unusual new library.

A planning application has been submitted to Lichfield District Council to convert an old red phone box into an community book exchange.

Cllr Louise Joyce said there had been plenty of support for the idea in the village: “One parish councillor had seen how successful the idea had been in other villages and we hope that Lichfield District Council will see the benefits and agree to the change.

“Villagers are looking forward to its new use and the Parish Council hopes to receive book donations in the future if the plans are approved.”

Residents can comment on the proposals via Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
