Push karts ready to take on the course in Burntwood

Robot designing brothers Craig and Chris Danby will be the judges when Burntwood welcomes back its push kart derby.

This Saturday (July 16) will be the second time the event has taken place and will once again see Cannock Road at Sankeys Corner transformed intoa race track.

Hand-built, people-powered karts will battle it out for the title.

The judges will have the final say on the winning kart ahead of their appearance on the relaunched BBC series Robot Wars this summer.

Kevin Wilson, from organisers KP Events, said he was hoping for another strong field.

He added: “The event is the brainchild of Burntwood Town Council and we were only too happy to take the idea and work with them to make it happen last year and be staged again this month.

“Already we are expecting more teams from the local community, schools, companies and a wide spread of organisations and sets of individuals, it should be a brilliant occasion that the town can be proud of.”

Entry is £5 per kart and can be made on the day. For more details, visit www.kpevents.net.
