Volunteers have given a makeover to a bike left outside a Lichfield train station.

Members of Re-Cycle Lichfield swung into action after spotting the bicycle earlier this week.

They have now returned to carry out repairs on the bike, which is chained up outside Lichfield City station.

A spokesperson said: “We decided to just go and fix it, taking parts from a scrap mechanism to fix the original.

“We also indexed the gears and pumped up the tyres.”

The group would now like to trace the owner of the discarded bike.

“We’ve left a note on the handlebar and will keep an eye on it in the next few days in the hope someone claims it.”

Random acts of kindness?

You just don’t expect that type of thing around here.
