An MP has urged people in Lichfield to have their say if they disagree with plans to change costituency boundaries.
Plans have been unveiled to move Streethay and Whittington into the Tamworth voting area – a move branded “nonsense” by Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant.
But Tamworth MP Christopher Pincher said the Boundary Commission for England’s suggestions were not yet set in stone.
“While it is clear that Tamworth constituency is under strength and must become larger taking in more of Lichfield District as we reduce the number of Members of Parliament, it is important to remember this initial proposal is just that – an initial proposal,” he said.
“It will not be implemented until a great deal of local and regional consultation and a vote in Parliament has taken place.
“In the meantime I urge residents to get in touch with the Boundary Commission to let them know their thoughts.”
People can comment on the proposals online or by writing to the Boundary Commission for England, 35 Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BQ before December 5.
Mr Pincher added: “Residents can also give their view on constituency naming conventions if they wish.”
