A report has backed proposals for 150 new homes on land in Burntwood.

Plans have been drawn up for the properties on Milestone Way.

It comes in the wake of a 350 new properties on adjoining land.

But there had been criticism from some local residents about the impact the new development would have on already stretched local facilities.

However, a report from one of Lichfield District Council’s planning officer said these concerns could not prevent approval for the homes being granted.

“It is evident that the capacity of the health facilities to accomodate additional patients and the resurfacing of the estate road to the industrial units are not in themselves material to the planning process,” the report said.

“Economically, the proposal will provide employment opportunities through creating a development whose future residents would support existing facilities.

“It is considered that adequate open space will be provided to meet the needs of future and existing residents.”

A decision will be made at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee on September 26.

Well done to the planning officer, for approving these new homes.

I totally agree with you. Schools, doctors, dentists…… they are all very overrated. No need for them.

Lets build, build, build.

Someone will object to this comment but here it is anyway. What about the wild life!!! All of THEIR habitat is being stolen!
The local area, sankeys corner in particular,is in a shocking state. It is certainly in need of improvement. As mentioned in a previous comment the health care system is already under strain.
All of this should have more clout when plans are submitted to the council. Sadly this never seems to be the case. Once again the rules for lichfield and the burntwood area are sadly very different.

Jane, I agree with you.

The green spaces in Lichfield and Burntwood are disappearing at a very worrying rate.

We want kids to go out, exercise and play. If we build over all green spaces, there is nowhere for them to play.

If there’s less wildlife and green space that could mean fewer Yams from Brownhills and Walsall trundling over on their bicycles, so not all bad.
Should Sankeys Corner continue to deteriorate there’s always the option of a day out shopping in Brownhills, I hear they have coffee now, but be careful where you tread.
