Chasetown FC returned from Leek Town without anything to show for their efforts after losing out in a five-goal thriller.

The hosts got off to the perfect start in the third minute as Jake Dunwoody received the ball 12 yards out and drilled a low shot past Curtis Pond.

But Chasetown levelled ten minutes later when Jack Langston fired goalwards from the edge of the box and a wicked bounce took the ball over the dive of Chris Martin.

The Scholars edged in front just after the half hour as James Dance headed back into the path of Langston who thumped home his second goal of the game.

In an end to end first half, Leek equalised immediately with a close range effort from Tim Grice.

Midway through the second period the home side regained the lead with Grice netting again.

The Leek man could have had a hat-trick six minutes from time when he seized on an under hit backpass and took the ball beyond Pond but could only drag his effort wide of the post.

The let-off gave Chasetown hope and in a grandstand finish Pierce Kiembi and Josh Craddock forced the ball goalwards during a scramble only to see Martin kick the ball off the line.
