Whittington Vets

Whittington Vets deservedly picked up their first league win of the season after a solid team display against Melchester Rovers.

The Vets opened the scoring after good link up play resulted in a neat finish from Paul Brampton.

The lead was extended further in bizarre fashion when an inswinging corner from Neil Russell was parried into the goal by the Rovers keeper.

Carl James made it three just before half time with a delicate lob into the net.

Melchester piled on the pressure in the second half but Whittingtons defence stood firm, only conceding a breakaway consolation goal.
