People traveling from Lichfield into Birmingham this weekend have been warned to expect busier than normal trains.

Cross city line operator London Midland has earned passengers ahead of the Black Friday sales.

In an email to passengers, the company said the shopping event, combined with the German market, would mean services were busier than normal.

“There are a large number of events taking place that will make train services in the region very busy,” a spokesperson said. “We are adding extra carriages to train services where we can, but please allow extra time for your journey.

“Birmingham New Street is expected to be exceptionally busy, with queuing systems in place for trains. It may take longer to travel to or from this station.”
