A church in Burntwood has joined others across the country to support The Children’s Society.

A Christingle service took place at St Anne’s Church today (December 4).

Youngsters at the church were invited to decorate oranges with ribbon, sweets and a candle.

Money raised was donated to The Children’s Society. The charity’s chief executive Matthew Reed said the services would help support work it carries out.

“We’re delighted that so many Christingle events are happening to help disadvantaged children and we’re truly grateful to everyone who attended for their support,” he said. “Vulnerable children and young people are at the very centre of what we do and we need to make sure their voices are heard so their lives can be improved.

“These Christingle events in Staffordshire and across the country make it possible for us to carry on our vital work and transform the lives of even more children in need of our help.”
