Chasetown FC and Lichfield City FC will have to wait to kick-off 2017 after both saw their first fixtures of the year beaten by the weather.

An 11.30am inspection at The Scholars Ground put pay to their hopes of taking on Basford United as the referee decided the frozen ground would not thaw in time.

Meanwhile, City’s hopes of starting the New Year with a win were delayed for the same reason ahead of their clash with high-flying Leicester Road.

It means Chasetown will now see their first action of 2017 with a trip to Rugby Town on Saturday (January 7), while Lichfield’s Midland Football League Division One campaign continues at the weekend when they host Uttoxeter Town.
