An over 60s tea party is being organised at the Samuel Johnson Community Hospital in Lichfield.

The event is being organised by staff to find out more about how the hospital can support the wellbeing of older people.

It will take place between 11am and 3pm on January 31.

Ben Goodwin, operations director for the hospital, said: “It’s important that we talk to our patients on a regular basis about what we are doing right and if there is anything we can assist them with.

“This is a chance to have a cup of tea, maybe a piece of cake, and chat to our staff on an informal basis about how we can make their care better.”

I guess one way of helping older people is by keeping the small injuries unit open!

That is a sensible suggestion Rodger, I wonder if the Health bosses have thought of it. It is a crazy idea to close the Minor Injuries Unit and I cannot see how it will save money. Has the CCG produced figures to justify their recommendation?

The constant building of new houses and increase in the local population, should improve services.

But Lichfield is reducing/ removing services. Getting a GP appointment is getting more and more difficult. Community care being slashed…….. Totally stupid set of circumstances.

Sadly, it will continue to get worse.
