Lichfield City FC came out on top in an eight goal thriller at Racing Club Warwick.

Dave Langston’s men made it two wins in as many games, but were made to work hard for their three points.

City got off to the perfect start with just two minutes on the clock as Jordan Hunt bundled in a cross at the far post to give his side the early advantage.

But a quick counter ten minutes later saw Wade Malley level things up.

Lichfield were back in front just two minutes later after Luke Chapman fired home a free-kick to restore his side’s lead.

Warwick fluffed a number of chances to level things up before they eventually found a second equaliser of the game through Mark Turton just after the half-hour mark.

Chapman netted his second of the first half as Lichfield edged in front again just before the interval.

The second period started with less intensity than the first, but Warwick and City both had chances to strike the first blow after the break.

But it was a penalty on 70 minutes that gave Lichfield the chance to put some space between themselves and the hosts after Jonathan Ashfall’s cross was handled. Richard Deavall stepped up and made no mistake from 12 yards.

The game looked to be wrapped up two minutes later when a cross found Hunt to score his second of the afternoon and make it 5-2 to Lichfield.

The drama wasn’t over though as Warwick scored direct from a corner before Chapman went from hero to villain by seeing red after collecting two yellow cards in quick succession.

But despite being down to ten men, Lichfield hung on for a 5-3 win.
