A husband and wife have been named as the new captains at a golf club near Lichfield.
Chris and Ann Meadows will take on the role at Aston Wood Golf Club.
The couple, who live in Canwell, will make their first ‘public appearance’ at the club’s Captain’s Drive In on Sunday (April 2). This will be followed by a series of events on and off the course where they will be raising money for their chosen charity, The Holly Trust which supports bowel cancer care at Good Hope Hospital.
Said 24-handicapper Ann: “We are hoping to raise a lot of money while having some fun along the way.
“If I have one particular goal it will be to bring the men and women’s sections of the club closer together.”
Asked how she thought the husband and wife partnership would work at the golf club, Ann replied: “Well we’ve managed to get on well for the last 42 years so we are confident we call work well together during our years as captains.”
Chris, who plays off an 18-handicap, added: “We are stepping into big shoes – last year’s captains did a great job, but we will do our very best on and off the course to promote Aston Wood both as a golf club but also a great place where none golfers can come and enjoy themselves.”
