A nursery business founded in Lichfield has continued its expansion with the acquisition of a further 61 sites.
Busy Bees has confirmed the deal to take over the Treetops Nurseries chain which operates mainly in the east and south-east of England.
The move is the latest in a number that have seen the company – which is now based in Burntwood – become the largest childcare provider in the UK, with 329 nurseries and more than 8,000 staff caring for more than 35,000 children.
Marg Randles, managing director of Busy Bees, said: “We are delighted to welcome Treetops Nurseries into the Busy Bees family.
“We will be working very closely with the management team to ensure that we fully support the joint ambition to deliver exceptional care and education for children.”
Treetops Nurseries was founded in 1991 and CEO Charles Eggleston said the move would help continue the development of its sites.
“It has been an incredible journey since we began and a fantastic team effort from everyone involved,” he said. “We were understandably precious about the next stage of the journey but I genuinely believe Busy Bees will continue the Treetops ethos and help us build upon the tremendous success we have achieved.”
