Time is running out for people in Lichfield and Burntwood to register to vote in the Staffordshire County Council elections.

Residents will go to the polls on May 4 to vote for one of the 62 county councillors.

But to be eligible, people myst be registered by April 13. Those who are not already can sign up online.

Staffordshire County Council’s director of governance John Tradewell said: “We want as many people as possible to turn out to vote to have their say in how the county council is run.

“It is important that people are engaged in local democracy. With county council elections taking place only once every four years, people can help to shape the future direction of the organisation, which is responsible for roads, social care and attracting business investment among others.

“There’s still time to register and it’s a simple process.”
