Lichfield City FC sign off the season with defeat at unbeaten champions Bromsgrove Sporting

Lichfield City FC failed to spoil Bromsgrove Sporting’s title party on the final day of the Midland Football League Division One season.

Dave Langston’s men were hoping to be the first team to inflict a defeat on the champions all season, but were outclassed as the hosts thumped five goals without reply to clock up 132 goals in their 38 games.

Things started well for Lichfield as they went toe to toe with Sporting in the first half, only falling behind a minute before the break when Christopher Lloyd netted.

The gameplay went completely out of the window at the start of the second half though when Bromsgrove made it 2-0 just a minute after the restart through Jason Cowley.

Liam Spink added a third in the 69th minute – and a crowd of more than 1,000 had more to cheer in the last two minutes of the game as sub Andrew Nicol netted twice.
