Drayton Manor Park to remain closed while investigations continue after girl’s death on Splash Canyon ride

Drayton Manor Park will remain closed for a third day as investigations continue into the death of an 11-year-old girl earlier this week.

Evha Jannath, from Leicester, fell from the Splash Canyon ride yesterday (May 9). She was flown by air ambulance to Birmingham Children’s Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

The park will now shut on Friday too, bosses have confirmed.

A statement from the park’s owners said: “The tragic events on Tuesday have shaken the whole Drayton Manor family from the board, through to staff and visitors.

“We would like to extend our thanks to the emergency services for everything they did on the day.

“The park will be closed on Friday, to allow the Health and Safety Executive to complete their work.

“Our thoughts continue to be with the family and all those who have been affected by Tuesday’s incident.”
