Boss Dave Stringer stepped down for family reasons after almost two years in charge of The Scholars.

A statement from Chasetown said: “Everyone at the club would like to wish Dave all the best for the future and sincerely thank him for all his efforts during his time at Chasetown.”

The former Rugby Town boss’ final season in charge ended in disappointment after defeat in the final of the Staffordshire Senior Cup, while a poor run of league form saw The Scholars finish 17th.

Stringer’s appointment in 2015 came after Marcus Law became the third manager to depart the club in a year after just four months at the helm.

Meanwhile, former Chasetown striker and Lichfield City boss Gary Birch has taken over as boss of Walsall Wood. His assistant will be another former Scholars favourite, Richard Teesdale.
