Lichfield councillor Alan White has retained his place on the Cabinet at Staffordshire County Council.

The Conservative representative for Lichfield Rural East kept his seat at the recent elections after winning by more than 1,500 votes.

And he has now kept his place at the top table of the council after being confirmed as the Cabinet member for health, care and wellbeing.

Cllr Philip Atkins, who is beginning his third term as leader of the council, will be joined by six other members on the Cabinet – and said the Conservatives intended to continue to bring growth to the region.

“The county council has a good track record on delivering on investment, creating quality jobs and working with families to ensure children and young people get the best start in life,” he said. “But we are not complacent and know there is more hard work yet to be done.

“In the next four years our key priorities are to continue to grow a strong economy, focus more on skills and learning, work to deliver better joined up health and social care and support communities to take action on the issues which are important to them.

“There are undoubtedly challenging times ahead, but Staffordshire has a good story to tell and with the help of partners and local people, we can continue to make a positive difference in people’s lives, helping more residents live fulfilled, rewarding and independent lives for as long as possible.”
