Voters in Lichfield and Burntwood head to the polls next week to decide who will represent the area in Parliament.

June 8 could be the last time some residents in Whittington and Streethay vote in the Lichfield constituency if controversial boundary changes are given the go-ahead.

But it wouldn’t be the first time the battleground has moved in this area. The current constituency has only existed since 1997, having previously been represented by the MP for Mid-Staffordshire after the former seat for the city was originally abolished in 1950.

Going further back, Lichfield had been represented by two MPs from 1305 until 1868 when it was reduced to just one.
