Drivers warned of delays as lorry overturns after hitting railway bridge in Lichfield

Drivers are being warned to expect delays after a lorry struck a railway bridge in Lichfield.

The vehicle hit the structure on the A5127 near to McDonald’s at 12.30pm today (June 12).

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: “After the impact the lorry has over-turned, causing an obstruction in the road. Fortunately the driver of the lorry has escaped with minor injuries.

“We are working with colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and Network Rail to assess the situation and arrange recovery.

“There will be temporary road closures in place around Birmingham Road and Falklands Road, so please try to avoid the area where possible.”

    When are the SCC going to do something about HGVs.Make them stay on the Trunk roads and stop using Lichfield as a short cut.
