Report backs plans for new quad bike track in Whittington

A new quad bike practice track could be built in Whittington after a report backed the plans.

Fradley and Streethay Parish Council and Whittington and Fisherwick Parish Council have both raised objections to the facility, citing concerns around noise pollution and the impact on local wildlife.

Objections have also been raised by local residents’ groups and Cllr David Leytham, who questioned whether trailers bringing bikes to the site would create a potential hazard for other drivers using Brookhay Lane.

But a report to a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee says the scheme should be given the green light – as long as the quad bikes are fitted with exhaust silencers and limited usage times are put in place.

“In terms of social considerations the development will not, given its proposed level of use, adversely affect the highway network or have a significant adverse impact upon the amenity of neighbouring residential properties through noise generation,” the report explains.

A final decision will be made at the Lichfield District Council planning committee meeting on Monday (June 26).
