Twelve new homes are likely to be built on land next to Chase Terrace Primary School after a report backed the proposals.

Members of Burntwood Town Council have objected to the plans due to a “over intensive” use of the site and concerns around increased traffic at an already busy junction on Rugeley Road.

But a report to Lichfield District Council’s planning committee says the development should be given the green light.

It adds: “The principle of residential development on this site lying within the sustainable settlement of Burntwood is considered to be acceptable.

“It is considered that the development would not have an adverse impact upon the character or appearance of the surrounding area, not materially affect the amenity of neighbouring residents or prejudice highway safety.”

A decision will be made at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee on Monday (June 26).
