A teenage boy has suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Lichfield.

Ambulance crews were called to Eastern Avenue at 3.50pm today (July 4).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews discovered a teenage boy who had been seriously injured in the collision.

“He was assessed and treated for a head injury as well as arm and leg fractures. He was also suffering from a slightly reduced level of consciousness.

“Ambulance staff immobilised and him and administered pain relief before transporting the patient to Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The doctor from the air ambulance travelled with the patient to continue treatment en-route to hospital.

“The car driver was uninjured in the incident.”

This explains why I saw the air ambulance hovering over Lichfield around that time, but it was the second visit, the first being shortly after 2pm where the air ambulance landed by Stowe Pool after reports of sirens in the city centre. Any idea what that one was about?

There was definitely an earlier visit from a red air ambulance on Stowe Fields. Saw it with my own eyes, around 2pm.
