Final preparations under way for the Lichfield Garrick’s community musical

The final preparations are taking place for the Lichfield Garrick’s latest community musical.

Six months of rehearsals and technical tweaks will come to fruition when performers from across the region appear in The Dreaming – a musical version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The curtain will go up for the first time on July 31, and the Garrick’s artistic director Tim Ford – who has also produced the show, believes the show will be a hit with audiences.

“The Dreaming is the perfect summer musical,” he said. “It’s funny, light and magical.

It has been a real opportunity for us to play with the space here at the theatre, there will be many surprises in store. The creative team have been amazing and we can’t wait to share our magical dreamy world with everybody.”

The Dreaming is the second community musical produced by the Lichfield Garrick. The theatre enjoyed success in 2016 with The Hired Man.

Tim added: “There has been so much support from the local community and industry specialists with some very kind set donations including scaffolding poles, lighting and multi-colour playballs.

“he team are currently working very hard behind the scenes in putting the set together ahead of opening night. We are still on the lookout for any aspiring make-up artists to help out on the week of the show. If you would like to get involved then just get in touch with our box office.”

The Dreaming is playing at the Lichfield Garrick from July 31 to August 5. For ticket details visit www.lichfieldgarrick.com or call 01543 412121.
